Carmel have recently been awarded the electrical and mechanical installations for the Sainsbury’s store at Scarborough, this involved the live refurbishment of an existing supermarket.
The supermarket used a workforce made up of local construction companies, creating jobs in the area from the start and continues to do so after completion of the refurbishment.
Created within the existing car park and a redundant builders yard adjacent to the existing store, the store will increase from 31,000ft² to 62,000ft².
The car park refurbishment results in an increase of spaces, from 419 to 450.
An additional car park is being created offsite for Sainsbury’s staff parking, which will help to alleviate the daily parking problems.
The refurbishment of the Electrical and Mechanical services design, in co-ordination with Sainsbury’s Centre of Engineering, incorporated all the latest technology, environmental and energy saving initiatives, including:
Waterless urinals were utilised in washrooms, with water saving controls for leak detection.
