MidKent College's Maidstone Campus provides a pleasant learning environment for students

MidKent College, Maidstone

Set in the Oakwood Park complex, MidKent College's Maidstone Campus provides a pleasant learning environment for students. The site houses a range of quality workshops – including those for Bricklaying, Carpentry, Motor Vehicle and Welding – as well as a large Learning Resource Centre, refectory and welcoming social zone.

Carmel won the contract for the conversion of a complete floor of classrooms in the College, this involved the complete strip out of all existing services, the construction of a Biology laboratory, Chemical Laboratory preparation room and two general teaching rooms.

Carmel installed a new gas supply to 40 bench gas taps, this included a gas safety proving system in Labs, two pumps and a Vacuum system to 40 bench taps in Labs, AHU and ductwork with remote controls to supply ventilation, fume cupboard extract system, new power and lighting to all rooms including Safety transformers and stand-alone battery backup for the emergency lighting, all new heating radiators to all rooms, AV system to all rooms, new fire alarm system to all rooms and corridor, water services to the Labs and Oxygen depletion monitors to all Labs.

MidKent College was a very unique project to Carmel's portfolio of work. Although it was challenging at times, due to its limited time scales and difficulties resourcing laboratory equipment from overseas suppliers, we still managed to deliver the project on time whilst maintaining our highest standards. Carmel received high praise from both the Campus staff and students alike.
