Carmel held its very first Supplier Day in October this year. We wanted to bring together a number of our Supply Chain Partners and show them where we are heading as a business, along with a number of informative presentations we also awarded 5 awards to our top Suppliers voted for by our Project Teams.
Chris Clarke, Managing Director of Carmel Group started the day off a welcome speech and a presentation highlighting Carmel’s Vision. The presentation showed a continued dedication to building a strong Supply Chain Partners with a sustainable future. This was followed by a ECA Benefits and Mental Health Presentation by Vicki Lesley from the ECS. With many occupational health issues in our industry we wanted to show our Supply chain that there is support out there. Carmel have been a member of the ECA for over 20 years.
After a coffee break our very own Health & Safety Manager, Adam Rothera, gave a talk on Carmel’s Expectations of Health & Safety. One of our key targets on site and in our own offices is maintaining our high standard in Health and Safety. Our industry is a high risk industry and we all have a responsibility to provide a safe working environment. Kath Brown from KB Associates gave a presentation on the importance and the benefits of training up your staff. Carmel invest a lot into making sure our employees are trained correctly to carry out their roles and are members of IIP. The final presentation was given by Platform Black on Supply Chain Finance and how they Suppliers can get early payments, allowing companies to extend their payment terms without putting their Supply Chain under financial pressure.
The day was concluded by handing out 5 awards. The first Award for “Outstanding Performance” was awarded to Mick Dryer for constantly providing a top class installation service, who has the attitude of “nothing is too much trouble” and for assisting with our Apprentice Training. The next Award was for “Outstanding Health & Safety” which was awarded to G&R for always going the extra mile and their great service. The third Award “Outstanding Quality and Delivery” was awarded to Sapphire Air. Their continued quality of service, pre and post construction, always providing great ductwork and for their exceptional performance on a Key Carmel Project. The next Award “Outstanding Contribution” was awarded to Lifterz. They have always been a reliable and honest service provider. Last but not least, the last Award was awarded to H&E for “Outstanding Innovation”. They have always been willing to help with new ideas on installations we have brought forward. Nothing we threw at them seemed to be an issue. A very big well done to the winners but also a VERY BIG thank you to all our Suppliers.
The overall feedback from everyone who attended was that it was a very good, informative day. We are looking forward to this being a yearly event. Watch this space for updated on all future events.
