Carmel became an Employee Ownership Trust (‘EOT’) from December 2019, introduced by the Government in 2014 in an attempt to encourage more shareholders to set up a corporate structure, facilitating wider employee-ownership, albeit via an indirect holding linked to employment. It’s a business model proven to better engage, reward and attract staff whilst driving innovation and improved business performance. Carmel have elected ‘EOT’ representatives who report directly into the Board, bringing results of staff surveys, suggested best practice with regular updates communicated to all staff.
